Build

Develop, Fabricate & Build what is needed

The Build phase takes the plan and expand upon it to further design and build the capabilities neede to allow for execution. Build activities could include software development, systems integration, fabrication & assembly amoung other comparable activities. The goal is to complete this activitiy quickly and only to the level needed to execute the designed investigation during the next execution phase. The goal overall is to answer the key question about an idea and be in a position to sell that idea - not build a product. Building the product would come later. These are very differeent - the need to prove or disprove an idea is much different than a product. We think in terms of the 80/20 rule where 20% of a system typically provides 80% of the benifit. We want to stay focused on the building of only that 20% and prove / explore an idea through prototypes, demostrators, lab and/or field testing enabling the 20% to be understood and key questions answered. Getting this 20% working quickly and in a cost-effective fashion is our goal and drives our thinking thoughout the process. Our engineering and build capabilities span multiple domains, this coupled with our repurpose vs. reinvent mdind set enables us to do so quickly.
